Udit Narayan Jha was born on December 1, 1955, in Baisi village, Supaul district, Bihar, near the India-Nepal border. He comes from a Maithil Brahmin family, and his parents are Harekrishna Jha, a Nepalese, and Bhuvaneshwari Jha, an Indian folk singer. His dad was a farmer.

Udit studied at Jageshwar High School in Supaul, Bihar, completing his SSC there. Later, he got his intermediate degree from Ratna Rajya Lakshmi Campus of Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Udit has been married twice. His first wife was Ranjana Narayan Jha, and later he married Deepa Gahatraj in 1985. In 2006, someone named Ranjana Narayan claimed to be Udit’s first wife. At first, Udit denied it, but later he acknowledged her as his wife and promised to support her. He began his relationship with Deepa while still married to Ranjana. Udit Narayan is a famous Bollywood singer who was at the peak of his career in the 1990s and early 2000s. During this time, he lent his voice to many Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Dev Anand, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn.
