Boman Irani was born on December 2, 1959, in a Zoroastrian family in Bombay, now known as Mumbai. His mother, Jerbanoo Irani, raised him, as his father had sadly passed away just six months before his birth in May 1959. Boman later tied the knot with Zenobia Irani, and together they have two children, Danesh and Kayoze Irani.

Boman’s educational journey began at St. Mary’s School, and he then enrolled in a two-year waiter training program at Mumbai’s Mithibai College, where he obtained a diploma in Polytechnic. After completing his polytechnic studies, he took up a job as a waiter at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. However, due to his mother’s declining health, he had to leave this job and return to help run the family bakery in Mumbai. To make a living, he turned to selling potato chips and tea at his family’s bakery in Grant Road, a job he held until the age of 32.

Boman’s early life was not without challenges. He faced an inferiority complex, having been a target of bullying by his classmates. Additionally, he had to contend with dyslexia, ADHD, and a lisp.
