When Dr. Ajmal met John Paul through a mutual friend, he was impressed by Paul’s deep bond with animals. While Dr. Ajmal loves pets too, he was surprised by Paul’s connection to various animals, from dogs and goats to monkeys and snakes. Over time, they became friends and, sharing a passion for pets, decided to start a business focused on cats and dogs.

In 2018, Dr. Ajmal Dastagir and John Paul established the pet health startup, MimiBowBow, in Chennai—Mimi for cats and BowBow for dogs. Within just 10 months, they achieved remarkable success, generating approximately INR 1.8 Cr in revenue.
But then the pandemic struck and things went down.
