In 2017, he delved into the world of YouTube but didn’t find his niche for 2 years. After two years of exploring various interests, Vedant discovered his love for sneakers. He learned about the sneaker culture and gaining knowledge of it he decided to combine his love for sneakers and entrepreneurship to create Mainstreet Marketplace.
This online platform is a go-to place for sneakers lovers. It is the 1st physical outlet to sell limited-edition sneakers in India. People are usually intrigued to collect limited edition clothes, apparel, shoes, etc.
The platform offers brands like Adidas, Nike, Drewhouse, Supreme, and Yeezy. Their sneakers prices range between Rs 8,999 to Rs 8,24,999. Mainstreet Marketplace specializes in sneaker reselling. Their online store now has over 3000 products, which include not only sneakers but numerous other products like hoodies and t-shirts.
Securing Investments
Vedant’s Mainstreet Marketplace quickly gained attention in the sneakers industry, securing impressive investments of $2 million in June 2023. The investors include popular figures like Nikhil Kamath (Founder of Zerodha), Deepinder Goyal (Founder & CEO of Zomato), Sujeet Kumar (Co-founder of Udaan), Tanmay Bhat (Stand-up comedian), and even famous Rapper Badshah.
Prior to this, in December 2022, the startup secured $206k, and in December 2021, $132k in funding.
Moreover, popular celebrities like Ranbir Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar, and others also expressed their support for the brand.
In addition to the online store, the company has established two physical retail stores in Mumbai.
Mumbai-based Mainstreet Marketplace has become a popular destination for sneakers lovers, particularly in cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi. To date, they have successfully sold over 50,000 sneakers.
Revenue
In FY22 year, the company generated a revenue of Rs 24 crore. And as of 31 March 2024, their revenue was around Rs 30.7 Cr ($3.71 M).
By the end of the financial year of 2024, they are planning to reach over 100 crore. This impressive revenue has positioned Mainstreet Marketplace as a strong competitor in the competitive retail industry.
In the future, they are planning to expand their business by launching four more stores soon. This success showcases Vedant’s strong understanding of customers’ preferences and market trends.
