If life had an exam, Sanjay’s first few attempts would’ve been marked in bright red. He failed the NEET medical entrance three times—the kind of setback that can crush even the most determined dreams. But instead of giving up, he did something unexpected—he changed the dream.
With no coding background, no JEE score, and perhaps nothing but grit in his pocket, Sanjay enrolled in IIT Madras’ online Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Applications. This program, open to anyone with the will to learn, became his ticket to a whole new world.
Fast-forward a few years, and the same person once branded an “exam failure” now works as an Associate Data Scientist at Syngenta. “I failed NEET thrice. Everyone thought my career was over. But today, I’m a data scientist—all thanks to IIT Madras’ BS programme,” Sanjay says, with a smile that probably tastes of victory.
From learning Python and SQL to diving into Machine Learning and conquering Data Structures and Algorithms, Sanjay built his skills step by step. The programme’s flexibility meant he could learn at his own pace, collecting certificates along the way—or going all in for the degree.
IIT Madras offers the course entirely online, proving that quality education doesn’t have to come with geographical or academic barriers. And yes, for those less into data and more into circuits, there’s also an online BS in Electronic Systems.
Sanjay’s story isn’t just about a career change. It’s about rewriting your ending when the first chapters don’t go as planned. Sometimes, failing one exam just means you’re studying for the right one—in life.
