In a surprising development for frequent travelers, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, a prominent hotel chain, has halted its popular status match program. The program, which allowed members of competing hotel loyalty programs to receive equivalent elite status within the Wyndham Rewards program, has been temporarily discontinued. In this article, we will inform you why Wyndham status match stopped and its potential implications for travelers.

Wyndham Status Match Stopped: Why It’s No Longer Available?

    Hotel Reception

In business, it is common for companies to tie up with each other for a common goal. You see co-branded credit cards, packaged tour deals, and whatnot. Similarly, Wyndham Hotels and Caesar Entertainment struck up a deal where the customers could match their status back and forth on the program offered by either company. However, all this came to a partial stop in 2021.

Now you may ask why the Wyndham status match stopped. In reality, it is not that the two programs aren’t working anymore – it’s just that there has been a tweak in the rule.

When the two companies came out with their partnership in 2017 you were allowed to match statuses between the programs. The timing of the end of these programs fell at such a time that you could switch from one program to another and back to the original to keep your status intact.

Caesar Entertainment for some reason decided to put an end to this program that didn’t make sense for a hotel program. The latest change on Caesar Entertainment’s end means that people will now have to earn their status if they wish to match it with the partner program. You can’t just enter the program via some other tier program or with expiring points from the program.

So, your best bet may be to avail of these benefits by earning a Wyndham Diamond status match, or corresponding status of participating partners program.

When will Wyndham Status Match be Available?

Various companies tie up their loyalty programs with that of other companies. Wyndham Hotels also participates in such partnerships and some of the programs that participate in Wyndham’s status match include:

    • Marriott Bonvoy
    • Radisson Rewards
    • World of Hyatt
    • Hilton Honors

The question now is when will the Wyndham status match be available? All you need to do is sign in to your Wyndham Rewards account and complete the form. Once the verification is over you are good to go.

However, the status match comes with a varying time limit and also match level. Wyndham Diamond status match with a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite or Hilton Honors Gold member.

In terms of time, a Gold status holder of Wyndham can keep the status for the year and the following year after the match but a Diamond status member would have to complete a challenge to maintain their status beyond 90 days. And lastly, you can only apply for a Wyndham status match once every calendar year.
