The famous Twitter bird logo just above the home button on the social network’s online version changed to the “doge” of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency without any prior warning on Monday.
Twitter homepage symbol is now the popular Doge meme. Elon Musk appears to be making jokes about the architecture of Twitter itself.
The doge picture of a Shiba Inu is part of the Dogecoin blockchain and cryptocurrency logo, which was founded in year 2013 as a joke to make fun of other cryptocurrencies.
Dogecoin’s value increased by more than 20% when Twitter’s site logo was changed on Monday.
Musk, who paid $44 billion to acquire Twitter last year, is a well-known admirer of the Doge joke and has pushed Dogecoin on Twitter and also during his stint last year hosting the ever-famous SNL.
According to some, following Twitter’s disastrous attempt to remove historical blue checkmarks that do not pay for Twitter Blue, the social media platform appears to have turned its attention to more immature coding activities.
This might be Musk’s version of a late April Fool’s joke, or it might imply something more. The price of the meaningless, cryptocurrency driven by a meme is rising, although it is still far below its highest value which it reached in May 2021.
Musk tweeted, “As promised,” with a screenshot of a discussion he had last year, to explain the Doge logo change. “Given that Twitter serves as the de facto public town square, failing to adhere to free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy. What should be done,”
Musk tweeted in March 2022, before initiating his finally successful bid to buy Twitter. “Just purchase Twitter… and alter the bird logo to a doge,” @WSBChairman said. “Haha that would sickkk,” Musk said.

However, many believe it is not just a joke as Twitter homepage symbol is now the popular Doge meme.
Musk was the target of a complaint filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in June 2022, charging him of racketeering for promoting Dogecoin.
The plaintiffs who sued Musk, demanding a whopping $258 billion in damages, also included his hosting stint on Saturday Night Live.
Musk’s legal team, on the other hand, submitted a request to dismiss the complaint on Friday, March 31. Musk’s lawyers stated in a filing with the federal court in Manhattan that his tweets were a joke.
In no way have Musk’s words in support of Dogecoin cheated anybody, nor have they clarified the dangers Musk is accused of concealing from investors.
