MIX has released its MFI Benchmarks from the calendar year 2007. The global benchmarks are a compilation of performance and financial data from MFIs throughout the developing world. This year’s benchmarks use data from 890 MFIs from 94 countries. The benchmarks have included MFIs from Iraq, Burundi, Gambia, Guinea, Laos, Thailand and Turkey for the first time.
The 2007 MFI Benchmarks cover a total of 64 million borrowers and US$36 billion in loans, with 34 million savers and US$15 billion in deposits. The benchmarks, along with analysis, will be published in the MicroBanking Bulletin, #17, produced by MIX and available November 2008.
